H1Z1 China Version Got Censored

A recent patch for H1Z1’s Chinese Steam version replaced the police cars with cabs, raising speculation that the game will be officially signed by a Chinese publisher soon. Previously Chinese players played the same H1Z1 content like everyone else in the world on Steam but now their version became unique.

Tencent Games was linked to H1Z1 for they released a survey about the game to Chinese players recently. What’s more, Tencent’s own Steam platform dubbed WeGame was reported to have H1Z1. All clues pointed to a theory that Tencent Games will sign up H1Z1 and operate a localized Chinese version in China.

Similar censorship happens in Tencent’s another MMO Need for Speed Edge. The Chinese publisher will have to consider to change the police cars into other vehicles to make sure sensitive content won’t appear in games.
